Nangi Village, Nepal

White Circles
is currently supporting Nangi Village, Nepal. We work with, but do not govern the direction of the Village, and we aim to build a networking bridge between Nepal and Australia with an understanding that they know what is best for their village. They have proved it thus far and White Circles is a way of encouraging them to continue.

Nangi Village lies in the foothills of the Himalayas at 2300 meters altitude. Just higher from them, at 3000 meters, is an abundance of Lokta, or Daphne tree. This has traditionally been used to make a fine paper product for centuries.

Nangi Village is well known by Nepali people, and globally too. They are the first rural village to have installed wireless internet and have mastered the educational purpose of it. One of the side projects that helps fund the internet, is the Nangi Women’s Paper Making Project. Essentially, the project began for their local women and their local school. We now fund the teachers wages and have been able to contribute to financially to a local tourist lodge. The Nangi framework ensures that women and communities are encouraged to set their own wages, and their own community investment plans through international sales of products. Creating a motivation to work and move forward as a community, and as a family.

Other community projects within Nangi include a mushroom farm, a fishery, a forest regeneration project, and a community sauna.

The future of Nangi is about maintaining and partnering with long term buyers and supporters. We have the potential to replicate in neighboring villages and will soon hope to invest in some more efficient equipment.

What we do best or corporate orders and are flexible in what we make, as long as you are flexible with timings.
